Early 19th century Australian women were finally able to wear dresses that were suited to the Australian climate.
Dresses cut high under the bust, with long flowing skirts were light and easy to wear and few undergarments restricted movement. Poke bonnets decorated their heads and were trimmed with ribbons.
This style was called Empire.
The Empire Woman is often paired with the Gentleman of Fashion.
